Balkan Heritage Field School: Overview, Participation, and Reimbursement
The Balkan Heritage Field School is a program of the Balkan Heritage Foundation, a Bulgarian public, non-profit, non-governmental organization. The program offers practical education in the fields of archaeology and history of South-Eastern Europe, along with documentation, conservation, and restoration of historic artifacts and monuments.
Participation and Reimbursement
All participants in the BHFS are required to reimburse the Foundation for costs associated with their participation in any field school project through a reimbursement payment. Reimbursements are refundable under the conditions specified in the individual BHFS Attendance Agreements.
Supporting the Balkan Heritage Foundation
Donations to the Balkan Heritage Foundation (BHF) are vital for supporting education and training in archaeology and cultural heritage conservation. These contributions also aid in the study, protection, and conservation of endangered, neglected, or overlooked sites and artifacts related to the cultural heritage of South-Eastern Europe.
You can choose to donate to support:
- all activities of the BHF, or
- a specific BHF project or projects.
Donations are non-refundable.
The Process
1. Go to our secure online payment form provided by Unicredit Bulbank, Bulgaria. All transactions are processed by Borica Bank Services, Bulgaria.
2. Fill-in the form.
2.1. For participants submitting their reimbursement payment:
- Select “Reimbursement Payment” in the field TYPE OF CONTRIBUTION.
- Enter the relevant BHFS project code(s) (as listed on the project page) in the field DESIGNATION.
2.2. For those who want to support the Balkan Heritage Foundation in general:
- Select “Donation” in the field TYPE OF CONTRIBUTION.
- Enter “Balkan Heritage Foundation” in the field DESIGNATION.
2.3. For those who want to support specific projects of the Balkan Heritage Foundation:
- Select “Donation” in the field TYPE OF CONTRIBUTION.
- Enter the relevant project code(s) (as listed on the project page) in the field DESIGNATION.

Both reimbursement payments and donations can be made via:
